"First Light"

by Bodie & Brock Thoene

This is the first book of the A.D. Chronicles (I've already read the second book as I didn't have the first one at the time, as you don't have to read them in order).

Anyway, another wonderful book in the series. It did give me a better background to a number of characters that I was introduced to in the second book, but I didn't feel like I'd done the 'wrong' thing by reading them out of order.

This book took the story of Jesus healing the blind man on the sabbath and made a whole story of that person. It also had a number of other story lines happening so you were always kept entertained and the plot was a real page turner.

Thoene write really well and must do so much research into getting historical settings as accurate as possible, so you get an idea of what it was like living in the era they write about. In the instance of this novel, I got a better understanding of what impact Jesus probably had during His ministry (both good and bad with those who followed Him and those who opposed Him), what the leaders were like of the time and what it might have been like to be a blind beggar of the time.

Looking forward to the third of the series!
